Swimming
With a choice of peaceful, sandy coves, secluded shingle beaches and the famous ‘Pollock Hole’ rock pools, the area surrounding the Hilltop B&B offers the ultimate playground for sea swimmers.
Birdwatching
Located on the north side of the Loop Head Peninsula, the Bridges of Ross is an internationally renowned seabird-watching site.
The Bridges of Ross were formerly a trio of sea-arches but they have been worn away over the years by the fierce Atlantic, leaving one remarkable ‘bridge’ still to be seen.
This low-lying area has the ideal orientation that marks it out as an internationally renowned seabird-watching site. In the late summer and early autumn sea birds such as shearwaters, skuas and petrels pass by close to shore, sometimes overhead, as they follow Ireland’s western shore on their southern migration.

Fishing Trips
Shore fishing is possible in all weathers due to the huge variety of fishing locations available, choosing from rock platforms that shelve into deep water, wild Atlantic storm beaches, sheltered coves and quiet harbours.
Alternatively try your hand at a sea-angling expedition with one of our experienced local skippers, Luke Aston or Sean Maguire, who would be happy to help you arrange a trip with.
Watersports
Nevsail Watersports & Adventures are based in Kilkee and run extreme sports and adventure activities throughout all of Loophead including sailing, windsurfing, rockclimbing, kayaking, canoeing, surfing, stand up paddle boarding and coasteering for all ages and group abilities.
